2008 was the worst year in Internet threats

Security company Symantec has compiled statistics on threats from the Internet in 2008, and the report shows that last year was a katastrofzon.
Among other things, speaks report that over 60 percent of all malicious code , ever recorded, was found in 2008. U.S., China and Germany are the three countries that account for most of the crime on the Internet.
- For several years we have seen that malicious code is growing rapidly, but we have never ever seen such a large increase in 2008, says Per Hellqvist, Senior Security Specialist at Symantec. In large part this is linked up with the Internet usage in many parts of the world is undergoing a major boom in terms of number of users, broadband capabilities and applications.
Other interesting figures from the report is that spam increased by over 190 percent from 2007 to 2008, and resulted in 350 billion spam during the last year ... 90 percent of those sent through botnets - that is, infected computers controlled by cyber criminals.
Many consumers' computers are unfortunately available and can send thousands of spam a day. Outdated systems and software, poorly updated antivirus and firewall can be no sensible result that computers infected with Trojans that connects the computer to the botnet.
